Get a New Lipstick or Die

Get A New Lipstick Or Die.
That is the cry of many new up and coming makeup retailers. The new Summer season is here and so in addition to your annual change of wardrobe, shoes, hair style, and coffee pick...the call is to also change your entire color makeup look.

Now I'll admit that when it comes to Summer I like to go for a more Greek Isles, or even tropical sunkissed look. However I don't always swap out my beloved lipstick for a new color every season. I suppose I don't fear the shame of a fashion faux pas, some inevitably will feel at not keeping up with the makeup fashion world (and let's face it...there are few who can afford to), and they really shouldn't. Why? Because even though the cosmetics companies add new colors all the time, we don't need to buy the one's that we will not wear more than once. It's just plain silly. I love about three colors. They look great on, especially with a little touch of gloss; each compliments my skin tone nicely.

By not having the twenty, or I dare say fifty shades, I could have that go well with my skin tone, I not only save on space in my makeup drawer, but money for other things....like dresses, shoes, and ice cream.

However, a woman does need at least three lipstick colors, one that brings out her natural beauty, one to be a bit daring and dramatic, and one to complement the occasional odd colors in ones wardrobe. The same goes for lipgloss.

My personal favorites are "Tanned", "Berry Kiss", and "Rasin Berry". Favorite lipgloss: "Sugarberry", "Beach Bronze" and "Starry".

My advice is to pick your three colors and wear them as long and as often as you like, what ever the season. But don't be boring. It's ok to change things up a bit to stay current. You can always just add a different lipgloss on top to change the lipstick into some entirly new and exciting if need be!

Stay Beautiful.

Why She Loves Mary Kay

Why She Loves Mary Kay Cosmetics & Skin Care
(these are actual comments sent to me...thought I'd share them!)

Here is what my customer over at Dreamworks Animation Studios in Burbank, CA had to say:

"Hey Leah! I have to tell you, the medium coverage foundation is just amazing. Occasionally, a store brand still catches my eye and I buy it. Every single time I've flushed the money away because it doesn't even compare. And if I were stuck on a desert island, I'd want the Facial Highlighting Pen with me. No joke, that's how awesome that thing is. It erases shadows like a 3D Photoshop tool. And the Timewise skin care products... I never thought my skin could look so amazing. I could go on, but I'll save it for another post ;o) Thanks for the awesome goodies!"

4:45am Call time.....and I can't sleep.

One of the cruel things about being human is having to sleep. Don't get me wrong usually I love it, that is, until I "have to" do it. It's like getting enough protein or saturated fats into your diet; you love it when you're not thinking about it, but once you stick a "have to" in front of, well pretty much anything, then that which was once fun is know sickeningly hard to accomplish.

Anyway, my issue is sleep. I have the worst time sleeping. When I have to be somewhere early (like before noon) I often have to drink a glass of wine, and take allergy medication just to knock myself out and stay under long enough to get about six hours of decent, albeit, drug and alcohol induced sleep. I have on occasion tried to sleep without any aid, but inevitably will get up at 2:30am-ish and be bitterly wide awake until I break down and take something. Which then makes me utterly groggy and angry the next morning. So what I can do?

Hmm...not much really. I've even tried those melatonin tablets you're supposed to pop just before you go to sleep. Those are rubbish. And I've tried "Extra Sleepytime" tea (two bags steeped for a good ten minutes). The tea makes me very sleepy but then I'm up around 3 or 4am, wide awake, AND I have to go potty. Very annoying!! One time I was up around 3am and wide awake as usual, and it seemed like the whole world was asleep but me, and snoring, which made me more angry and annoyed, so I tried pacing and some hot milk. But it was like everyone was saying, "No you can't sleep and just to make double sure, we're all going to snore in an irregular pattern to drive you crazy all night, so there." Well the pacing for about twenty minutes made me tired and the milk keep my stomach from grumbling (yet another annoying reason to get up in the middle of the night), so I was able to get back to sleep for about 2 hours. My husbands alarm went off at 6am or so. So I got about 5 hours that night total. ANNOYING!!

Now I'm told that new moms suffer an similar fate for the first few months of their childs life as they get used to one another. In addition to the whole 3am feeding and diaper change thing, et. the infant must establish a sleeping pattern. I must have been a horrible baby. I should ask my mom about that. However the mother usually gets back to normal sleep in about 4 months or so. Maybe all I need to do is have a baby and I'll be normal. Wouldn't that be great. the cure for insomnia is having a baby, and magically all will right itself in about four to five months.

Well there are no babies in my future, so far as I know, but I'll let you all know how that goes someday. In the mean time, it's more hot milk, pacing, alchol, allergy medication, and prayer.

Sweet dreams,
Leah

How can I get rid of large pores?

Large pores, unfortunately, are not something you can get rid of completely, but you can shrink them down to a more "normal" size. I have large pore, thanks to heriditary, and I've wanted to shrink them down to porcelin doll size my whole life. I finally found something that worked....The Microderabrasion Set by Mary Kay Cosmetics. It does the trick, and minimizes the large pores, and smooths dry rough skin. Not over night, it takes about a 15 to 30 days of using it twice a week (three times a week if you have really dry skin), but it really did make my pores shrink down.

I love this Microderabrasion Set so much, and I know you will too, so try it out. Heck, try it with friends, it's way more fun that way, and then when you all see you pores shrinking down, please....let me know. I love feedback.

Happy Shrinking,
Leah
